Is Karven for me?
If you quote work. The calculator does the maths so you can stop building Excel sheets that nobody trusts. Free for a week, no card. After that, $59/mo for unlimited.
How is this different from Tradify or ServiceM8?
Tradify and ServiceM8 are scheduling and invoicing tools that bolt a generic line-item form onto the front. Karven is a per-trade calculator engine. it knows what a 4500×2400 sectional door actually costs to build because the maths is in the template, not in your head. Many tradies run both: us for quoting, Tradify for the rest.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Karven runs in any browser. laptop, phone, tablet. There's an "Add to Home Screen" prompt on iPhone and Android so it sits next to your apps and works offline once cached. No App Store review queue, no IT.
What does it cost?
Your first week is free with full access, no card. After the week you pick a plan to keep quoting and nothing you made gets deleted. $59/mo Starter for unlimited + branded PDFs + e-signature + deposits + automated follow-ups. Per workspace, not per user, so add the apprentice for free. Can I put my own logo on the PDF?
Yes. and your contact details, ABN, terms, custom quote prefix (KV-2026-001 by default; change it to RILEY-001 if you want). Customers see your brand, not ours. PDFs render server-side at submit, so they're consistent across every device.
How does the calculator know my pricing?
An onboarding wizard asks 8-12 questions about your business: supplier markup, install crew rate per hour, GST registration, default margin, callout fee. Everything you answer feeds into the calculator, so every future quote rebases to your numbers automatically. Bump your margin once in Settings, every new quote uses it.
I'm not tech-savvy. Will I be able to figure it out?
Yes. Setup asks about 8 questions about your business and takes a minute. No downloads, no IT, no account-manager call. If you get stuck, we're on the phone 7am to 7pm AEST.
Is my data hosted in Australia?
Yes. Your database sits in Sydney and the app runs from a Sydney edge. Your customer data stays in Australia, in line with the Privacy Act 1988. We never sell or share data with third parties. See /privacy for the full policy.
Can I use it on the truck or on-site?
Yes. Karven is mobile-first. Most tradies build quotes on their phone in the customer's driveway, in the ute between jobs, or at the kitchen table at 9pm. Photos upload from your camera, voice memos transcribe via Whisper, customers tap to approve, and accepted quotes generate the deposit invoice automatically so you can leave with everything signed. Less time chasing money, less time on bookwork.
What if my trade isn't supported yet?
Start free (no card) and tell us. The calculator handles area-based, per-point and flat-rate pricing, which between them cover every trade. Most new trades take 1-2 weeks to add. The AI custom-trade builder on /onboarding/custom can put together a draft calculator for you in 30 seconds.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. cancel from Settings → Billing in two clicks. No phone call, no retention queue. Your quotes stay in the database for export to CSV or PDF; you keep what you've built.
