Quotient alternative

Karven vs Quotient: an honest comparison

Quotient is the closest tool to Karven: a quoting app where the customer opens an interactive quote, ticks optional extras, asks questions and accepts online. It has been around for years and has more integrations; Karven adds your trade's common items with starting prices, deposits by card on the quote, and a lower solo price with no quote cap.

What it is
Karven is quoting software, not a full job management system. You start a quote from a blank page, your trade's common items come up as you type, and your private profit % goes on top of your costs. The customer opens a link on their phone, ticks any optional extras, asks questions, accepts online and can pay a deposit by card. Starter is $29 a month inc GST for one user and unlimited quotes, Business is $49 for up to 5 users (1 user for now, team invites coming soon), and Pro is $99 with unlimited users (1 user for now, team invites coming soon) and the compliance paperwork. 21 days free, no card.

Where Karven is better

  • Unlimited quotes on Starter at $29 a month inc GST (Quotient Solo is capped at 100 quotes a month)

  • Your trade's common items with starting prices come up as you type, across 17 trades

  • Customer can pay a deposit by card when they accept (Stripe card fees plus a 0.5% Karven fee)

  • Send now, tomorrow at 8am or Monday at 8am

  • Pro plan adds Australian compliance paperwork (SWMS, BAS and TPAR reports, subbie RCTIs)

Where Quotient is better

  • Years of polish on the quote itself, with a big library of sample quotes

  • More integrations: Xero, QuickBooks, Zapier, Mailchimp and CRMs

  • Custom email domain option for sending quotes

Karven doesn't do: job scheduling and dispatch; timesheets and job costing; app store apps (karven runs in your phone's browser and can be added to your home screen); finding you leads.

Switching from Quotient is easy

  1. 1Bring your customers and old quotes from QuotientExport your quotes from Quotient as a CSV. Karven recognises Quotient's column names (contact, quote title, total inc tax, accepted date) and fills in the mapping for you to check. Then import it in Settings → Import.
  2. 2Paste or upload an old quoteKarven reads the lines off it and puts them on a new draft for you to check. Prices come across as they were, nothing is sent.
  3. 3Your trade's items are already therePick your trade and its common items come up as you type, each with a starting cost. Save your own prices in My items once.

Karven's CSV import recognises exports from Quotient, Tradify, ServiceM8, Fergus and Jobber. Anything else imports with a column mapping you check first. If you need a hand, our support team can help.

Who should pick which

Pick Quotient if

Businesses that want a mature, quoting-only tool with lots of integrations (Xero, QuickBooks and others).

Pick Karven if

You're a solo tradie or small crew and the quote is the problem: writing it fast, making it look right, and getting the customer to say yes and pay a deposit.

Both are built around a quote the customer can accept online. Pick Quotient for its integrations; pick Karven if you want your trade's items ready to go, deposits on the quote and unlimited quotes on the cheapest plan.

Karven vs Quotient

Common questions

  • Is Karven a good Quotient alternative?

Yes, if quoting is what you need. Both give the customer an interactive quote with optional extras, questions and online acceptance. Karven adds your trade's common items as you type, card deposits on the quote and unlimited quotes on Starter. Quotient has more integrations.

  • Can I bring my Quotient quotes across?

Yes. Export your quotes from Quotient as a CSV and import it in Settings → Import: Karven recognises Quotient's columns and you check the mapping before anything is saved. For your items, paste an old quote and Karven turns it into lines, or save them in My items as you go.

  • Does Karven do follow-ups like Quotient?

Yes. Follow-ups are on by default and ask you first: Karven lines up a reminder for a quote that's gone quiet and you send it with one tap or skip it.

  • How much does Quotient cost compared with Karven?

Quotient: Solo $33 a month (1 user, up to 100 quotes a month). Team $54 a month (2 to 5 users, unlimited quotes). $9 a month for each extra user after 5. (AUD, monthly. The page doesn't say whether GST is included.), checked 22 Oct 2026. Karven: Starter $29, Business $49, Pro $99 a month inc GST, with 21 days free and no card.
